The project aimed at an assessment of the current state of implementation of the gender equality objectives foreseen in the Book III of the Social Code (SGB III). This project was based on the agreement on objectives between the Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs and the Federal Employment Agency dated February 17, 2011 in which both parties committed to commission an autonomous and comprehensive research project on the topic. The study centered on a comprehensive exploration of governance and implementation which lead to an analysis of the strategies, structures and processes that the Federal Employment Agency has been implementing to reach its gender equality objectives on all levels and in all its regional and local bodies. The consortium under the auspices of ISG collaborated closely with IAB-Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung which conducted gender equality-related descriptive and impact analyses. This study on the implementation of gender equality foreseen in the Book III of the Social Code (SGB III) was the first of its kind in Germany. Its results are to be used as a base for proposals for the formulation of gender equality objectives in the new agreement on objectives between the Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs and the Federal Employment Agency.
